Our story
Two decades on the shop floor. Then we built the brand we kept looking for.
Egg First is run by a Pune retail family that spent twenty years inside organised retail before it ever sold an egg. That order matters. It is why the brand was designed around fill rates, cold chain and traceability rather than around a logo.
The gap we kept seeing
Eggs were the last unbranded thing in the basket.
Every other category on the shelf had a name, a date and somebody accountable for it. Eggs were sold loose out of a crate. Nobody could tell you when they were laid, who graded them, or what the bird had eaten.
That was not a marketing gap. It was an operations gap. If you cannot control the collection round, the grading line, the cold room and the truck, you cannot honestly print a date on a carton. So we built those first and put the brand on top.
How we got here

1997
Into organised retail
The family enters India's organised retail industry, at the point when modern trade was just beginning to reshape how the country bought its groceries.
1997 to 2016
Nineteen years of category, supply chain and store operations
Leadership experience built inside some of India's largest retail groups, including the Tata Group, Reliance and the RPG Group. Buying, planogramming, replenishment, cold chain and vendor management. The unglamorous machinery that decides whether a shelf is full at eight on a Sunday evening.
2016
Egg First is founded
Komal Enterprises launches Egg First out of Fursungi, Pune, with a simple thesis. Own the chain, print the date, answer the phone.
Today
One centre, an owned fleet, forty two cities
Fourteen packs across everyday, high protein and speciality shelves, consolidated through one Pune distribution centre and moved on our own refrigerated vehicles to retail, quick commerce and institutional customers across the country.

Two brothers, thirty five years of retail between them.
One owns what goes into the pack. The other owns how it reaches you. Between them they have run categories, warehouses and route plans long before any of it was pointed at eggs.

Twenty two years in the retail industry. Sunil founded Egg First in 2016 and owns the sourcing side of the business. Farm partnerships, feed standards, grading discipline, and the quality bar every pack has to clear before it is allowed onto a truck.

Dilip Namdev Nikalje
Thirteen years in retail. Dilip runs distribution and demand. The Pune distribution centre, the owned fleet, route planning, and the modern trade, quick commerce and institutional accounts that Egg First supplies across the country.
The floor
The people who actually pack it.
Graders, packers, drivers, supervisors and the office. Most of them live within a few kilometres of the centre in Fursungi, and most of them have been here longer than the newest pack in the range.
How we run it
Four things we refused to outsource.
Most egg supply in India is a relay race between aggregators, mandis and hired trucks. Every handoff is a point where temperature slips, stock ages and accountability evaporates. We removed the handoffs.
Our own transport
Refrigerated vehicles we own, drivers we train, routes we plan. Temperature and timing stay inside one accountable system.
Our own logistics
Route planning, load building and delivery windows are run in house, not handed to a third party who has never seen the product.
Our own chain system
One unbroken cold chain from the farm gate to the retailer's chiller, held between two and eight degrees the whole way.
One centre, in Pune
Every pack is consolidated, checked and dispatched from a single facility in Fursungi. One set of standards, one batch record.

One hub in Pune. Forty two cities on the map.
Modern trade, general trade, quick commerce and institutional kitchens, supplied out of a single distribution centre through a network we own end to end.
